Sign The Petition Get Back to Work!   As a concerned citizen and taxpayer, I expect paid elected officials to act in the best interest of the country, even when it interferes with their FIVE-WEEK summer vacation.   I am outraged that the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, and the Democrats in Congress left for summer recess without even discussing the soaring energy prices on the floor of the House.   I am calling on Madam Speaker Pelosi and every Member of Congress that left the work of the people UNFINISHED, to follow the Republican leadership and House Conservatives, return to Washington DC, and finish the job. Five weeks of inaction is inexcusable.

 

Gas prices are soaring out of control. House Conservatives have a plan to lower gas prices, a plan that has the votes to pass. Speaker Pelosi refuses to allow a vote. In fact, she just shut down Congress for a five-week paid vacation.

 

House Conservatives took the floor demanding a vote for an energy plan to lower gas prices.

 

Pelosi turned off the lights, the microphones, and the TV cameras. House Conservatives refused to give up. With the cameras off and no television audience, these Conservatives spoke passionately for their belief that Congress must not wait to do something about skyrocketing gas prices that are causing families to suffer.

 

Democrats in Congress have done nothing to lower your gas prices. They have refused to allow a vote, and now they have decided to take a vacation.

 

Speaker Pelosi is off promoting her new book instead of offering Americans a solution to this energy crisis.

 

It is truly ironic that, in a year when many American families are canceling their vacation plans because of high gas prices, House Democrats are taking theirs before doing anything to address the crisis. Sign this petition and tell everyone you know to demand that Congress get back to work.
